Want to lighten up an area in your gardens?  Choosing a lime or golden version of a plant brings an instant glow, drawing the eye to the planting.  Using lime colored plants with contrasting colors makes a great statement at any time of the season.

What do all of the above plants have in common in addition to their great color?  For the most part they are all pest free, waterwise, disease free, and low maintenance plant choices. Most of them are undesirable to rabbits or deer. They are all growing in my Zone 4/5 yard where they get little supplemental water, very little additional fertilizer, and are all very happy.  So, next time you're looking for a dose of "wow" in the garden, try some lime!

  2. Thanks Jean, I love lime also, and not just in the garden. Key Lime Pie, Lime Sherbet, Lime Water are all eye openers just like these plants! Since I have so many shady areas, the limes and the golds are really nice to brighten up the space.

  5. They are beautiful but aren't they colonizers. I've had some sedum before and other succulents but they get to be so vigourous i had to let them go. Maybe in our tropics they are different. thanks.

  6. Love the ostrich ferns. Ferns unfolding are one of my favorite backyard sights.
